Lenovo IdeaPad Y550 freezes with Echo Indigo IOx in Win 7

Postby tatastha-sakti » Tue Jul 27, 2010 2:28 am

I've bought a IdeaPad Y550 last week and the following problem occured. When I put in my soundcard Echo Indigo IOx it works for about 10-20 minutes and then the machine just freezes with monotonic sound coming out. Especially it likes to freeze when while using complex audio software like Guitar Rig, Ableton and so on with signal IN. So, I know how to freeze the system in 1 minute: just launch Guitar Rig and start playing the guitar, changing effects, etc. If I'll be quick the system will get freezed in 1-2 minutes. And only hard reset helps. Another way is to take the card away and then put it back. This causes the system to reboot. On start Windows report it was BSOD.

Product: 768_1

The configurations is: Intel Core 2 Duo 2200 MHz Penryn (T6600), chipset is Intel Cantiga PM45. Windows 7 Home Basic 32-bit is installed, last version of BIOS.

I've tried the following steps:

1) Win7 updates and downgrades;
2) The Echo Indigo Drivers since 8.3 version;
3) Playing around with power management;
4) Disabling internal sound adapters;
5) Playing around with drivers for Intel Cantiga PM45 chipset.

And nothing helps! Please help! I've send two letters with minidump attached to Tech Support, but still no reply! I don't even know whether they read my messages ot not! :((( Please help, I'm frustrated. New laptop, new soundcard... and such a stuff! And nobody knows what to do. I don't want spending more money and time.

Update on a situation. Having reached the boiling point, I've moved back to Windows XP SP3. I installed the card on the absolutely clean system and... the freezing is still there. Just the same as in Windows 7. Apparently, it's hardware stuff... What should I do with this laptop and this card now?! Just frustration...
